Key visitor information  

How to get to the House of Commons (Portcullis House and College Green entrance) 

Bus: 3, 11, 12, 24, 53, 87, 88, 148, 159, 211, 453 

Tube: Westminster (Circle, District and Jubilee Lines) 

National Rail: Waterloo, Charing Cross, Victoria, Vauxhall (all approx. 15-30 minutes walk)

Key information 

  • You must bring a digital or printed copy of your invitation to Posters in Parliament and any tour/workshop with you in order to access the event. Photo ID is also advised but the invitation is vital. Invitation will be emailed by 25 February 2024.  

  • Please only pass the invitation to those who are named ticket holders. Tickets are not transferrable as all names are given to the House of Commons in advance. 

  • Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs, as there are accessible entrances. 

  • Guests will need to allow 30 minutes to clear security before their tour/workshop and the poster exhibition.

Joining your Tour  

Please enter via the Cromwell Green Visitors Entrance (marked No. 8 on themapLink opens in a new window) and make your way through into Westminster Hall where you will find the Tours Co-ordinator's desk. 

At the end of your tour you will exit via Carriage Gates (marked no. 6).

Joining your Workshop 

Please enter via the Portcullis House Visitors Entrance (marked No. 5 on themapLink opens in a new window) and make your way to the workshop room (as detailed on the workshop invitation).  

 

Joining the Posters in Parliament exhibition 

Please enter via the Portcullis House Visitors Entrance (marked No. 5 on themapLink opens in a new window). The exhibition will take place in the Attlee Suite, Portcullis House from 1.30 -3.30 pm. Student presenters are asked to attend from 1.15 pm to ensure they locate their poster ahead of the opening of the exhibition. Speeches will take place at 3 pm. Tea, coffee and water will be served throughout the event.  

Refreshments within Portcullis House

Please note that the café in Portcullis House is not open to visitors. There is a small room where you can consume food/drink you have brought with you.

Nearby refreshment facilities include the following 

St Stephen’s Tavern,Link opens in a new window 10 Bridge Street, Westminster, London SW1A 2JR (located just behind Portcullis House and open from 10am with food and tea, coffee and soft/alcoholic drinks available) 

Café Nero, Unit B, Portcullis House 1-2, Bridge St, London SW1A 2JH (located just underneath Portcullis House but has very limited seating). Open from 6 am with food and tea, coffee and soft drinks available)

Photography and communications  

A photographer from the University of Warwick will be attending the event. Please advise staff on the registration desk, or the photographer, if you do not wish to be photographed. If students would like to be photographed next to their research posters, please ask the photographer.  

Photographs are only permitted within Attlee Suite and only for personal and private use.

Please note there is a staffed cloakroom by the registration desk where you can leave coats, bags and cases.

Photography and Mobile Phones 

 

Photography is only permitted in Westminster Hall and St Stephen's Hall. Mobile phones may not be used within the Palace and should be switched off. 

 

Toilets 

 

Toilets (including disabled facilities) are located next to Westminster Hall and are available at the start and end of your tour. 

 

Shop 

 

Our Jubilee shop, located off Westminster Hall, offers a wide range of books, gifts and souvenirs. 

 

Food and Drink 

 

The Jubilee Cafe, located off Westminster Hall, offers a selection of light meals, and hot and cold drinks. Please check the website for opening hours. Eating and drinking is not permitted on the Visitor Route.
