Psychiatry and Performance

Thursday 9th June 2011 (6-8pm)
CAPITAL Studio (G.55), Millburn House

We would like to invite medical students with a particular interest in psychiatry, literature and/or theatre to this evening event. This will involve readings by professional actors from Fail Better Productions as well as materials from the Warwick Student Ensemble. The provisional programme is as follows:

  • 6.00pm Dr Matthew Broome (Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry) and Jonathan Heron (IATL Research Associate and Artistic Director of Fail Better Productions ) welcome participants and introduce project
  • 6.10pm Readings from texts by Nikolai Gogol, Sarah Kane and Shakespeare by professional and student performers
  • 7.10pm Forum discussions focusing on the use of theatre to inform clinical practice
  • 7.30pm Wine reception to facilitate discussion and to identify shared interests
