How to Apply

Applications for ECTF fellowships

The application process for ECTF fellowships opens in spring for fellowships in the following academic year. We will update this page once the ECTF application process opens in spring 2026.

  • The online application form has full details of requirements and once it opens, should be reviewed carefully before applying.
  • You should always review *all* information on the ECTF Scheme Information page before applying; this includes selection criteria, eligibility and much more.

In addition to completing the online application form, you will also need to provide:

  • Project Statement - indicating how you intend to use the time and facilities available to you to advance your postdoctoral teaching and research; your proposed interdisciplinary teaching activities (workshops, public engagement activities etc); and your plans to develop your research profile during the fellowship period, including any funding applications you intend to submit.
  • Two reference statements/letters (ie not just the names of your referees):
    • One reference should be from an academic who can discuss your doctoral research, usually your PhD supervisor.
    • The other reference should ideally be from someone who can speak about your teaching or teaching-related experience, such as a module convenor for a module on which you have taught. If you have lacked opportunities to teach, this reference can be from someone who can speak about your public engagement experience.
    • The references should be uploaded as part of your application; if this is not possible, please email these to IATL@warwick.ac.uk ensuring that they are received by the deadline.
  • CV – 2 single sides of A4 maximum.

The application form includes fields for your teaching and/or public engagement profile; your research profile; and how being at IATL and IAS would benefit your career plans.

In addition, the form includes an optional field for Publications and outputs, intended for existing publications/other outputs. We’ve provided this optional space in case information will not fit elsewhere, since the CV can be 2 pages maximum and the ‘research profile’ field in the application has a word limit. Publications planned as part of the ECTF would go in the ‘project statement’ document about your fellowship plans.

Please also complete the Equal Opportunities Monitoring form, using the link on the right.
