Found Sound
Project update
In 2021 Found Sound was supported by the Centre for Digital Inquiry to create a version of the project that sampled materials from the National Cycling Archive at the Modern Records Centre. This new sound work is available.
Project history
In 2020 Found Sound was supported by Coventry Creates (City of Culture Trust and the University Partnership) and jointly funded by Connecting Cultures GRP and Innovative Manufacturing and Future Materials GRP.
In 2019 members of the public were able to access the medieval crypt at Coventry Cathedral as part of the opening weekend for Coventry Heritage Open Days in September. Taking the form of a sound installation, this event showcased the Cathedral's archive and invited visitors to enter this historic venue from unusual perspective, underneath the famous ruins. The Crypt Chapel 'dates from about 1300... for centuries it fell into disuse' until now.
Project credits
The 2019 production was supported by the Emerge programme, a network of alumni artists from the University of Warwick working in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL) and Warwick Arts Centre. It was created by Jonathan Heron, Kieran Lucas and Nomi Everall, with special thanks to Dianne Morris. The 2020 and 2021 projects were created by Jonathan Heron and Kieran Lucas in collaboration with James Ball.
