Creating and Clinging to ourselves: Identity at the Intersection of Science and Spirituality

Robbie Dodd

Hi, I’m Robbie. I’ve just graduated from Warwick where I studied Biomedical Science, but over my time at university I developed an interest and passion in Buddhist philosophy and meditation practice, which has led me to pursue a life and career more closely related to these areas.

About the Project

This student-devised assessment was my first step in interacting with these ideas in a formal setting, and involves a 6-minute guided meditation on the Buddhist teaching of impermanence. The accompanying piece discusses how spiritual experiences of teachings such as impermanence have historically been deemed incompatible with a scientific viewpoint, and how recent frameworks such as ‘The Enactive Approach’ have attempted to marry the two worldviews.
