Capacity Building

Capacity building to establish, improve, and maintain knowledge, skills and processes in relation to mental health research is one of the three over-arching themes for the centre.

Capacity building, or capacity development, increases the ability of organizations to respond to and perform at a higher level (larger scale, larger audience, larger impact, etc.). In the case of mental health and wellbeing, the success of the approach can be measured by the ability of both organizations and communities to respond to the needs of individuals in an appropriate and timely manner. In practice, capacity building tends to treat the range of skills and competencies needed as linked to the immediate task and the research interests within the centre reflect this.
