Cancer Research Award UK
We are delighted to announce the award of a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Early Detection grant in the amount of £406K to Dr Ali Khurram (Sheffield University) and Prof Nasir Rajpoot for research on developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms to predict malignant transformation of oral epithelial dysplasia.

Welcome Fayyaz Minhas
We are delighted to inform you that Fayyaz Minhas has joined the PathLAKE project as an Assistant Professor from October 2019.
Prior to joining Warwick, Dr. Minhas worked as a Principal Scientist at Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Islamabad, Pakistan since 2007. He has over 8 years of experience of teaching and research in computer science and has taught courses on Machine learning, Bioinformatics, Quantum Programming, Artificial Intelligence, Cancer Bioinformatics, Computational Biomolecular Design, Biometrics, Python Programming, etc. If you would like to find out more about Fayyaz Minhas, please visit our team section.
Welcome Shan Raza
We are delighted to inform you that Shan Raza has joined the PathLAKE project as an Assistant Professor from May 2019.
Before joining Warwick, Shan held a postdoctoral position for two years at the Institute of Cancer Research, UK working on TRACERx lung project funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK). Prior to that, he worked for three years as research fellow at Warwick computer science department on a BBSRC funded project exploring the origin of new beta cells during pregnancy. PathLAKE is go!
Greg Clark, former UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), announced that UK Research and Innovation will invest £10 million in the PathLAKE project as part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.
The University of Warwick has been awarded £2.3 million of the funding, and will work with partners and experts at the lead partner University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, Royal Philips and teaching hospitals and universities at Belfast, Oxford and Nottingham in the three-year project, focussing on breast, prostate lung and colon cancers.
