XMaS User Meeting January 2025

User Meeting - 15th January (10:30am until 5pm)

This day will showcase recent research conducted at the beamline, covering a range of characterisation techniques and scientific areas.

The beamline staff will also be present and available for you to discuss how XMaS can help with your scientific studies. Please encourage colleagues and others who may be interested, or just curious, to come along and see the kind of science that can be done.

The User Meeting will he held at Scarman, the University of Warwick Conference Centre.

How to get there?

By Car:

The postcode for Scarman is CV4 7SH and we are located within the University of Warwick campus.

For Scarman, follow signs for Lakeside Village, you’ll then find signposts for the venues, which is signposted off Gibbet Hill Road.

Car Parking:

All university car parks have Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). Delegates (including University employees attending events) will be required to register in advance or on the day of their attendance to facilitate free parking.

By Train:

Coventry is on the West Coast Mainline and serviced by regular trains, 7 days a week and is the most convenient train station for most visitors. It is served by trains from London Euston, Birmingham (New Street and International) and Leicester. From Coventry station,Link opens in a new window it’s easy to get a taxi or bus Scarman.

Canley and Tile Hill train stations are both served by trains from London, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Coventry, Rugby and Northampton. Neither station has a taxi rank, so if you don’t want to walk, book a taxi in advance. Leamington Spa is served by trains from Birmingham, Coventry, Oxford, Reading and London Marylebone. You can get a bus to Scarman from close to the station.

By Bus:

There are regular buses from the Coventry city centre, Coventry rail station and Leamington Spa. Taxis are easily available from these location.

From Coventry, the 11 and 12 bus routes both serve Warwick Conferences. Both buses call at the Rail Station Bridge SD stop on Warwick Road; a one-minute walk from Coventry station -view on Google maps.Link opens in a new window

By Plane:

The closest airport is Birmingham International Airport.Link opens in a new window A taxi to Scarman from the airport will take approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a direct train to Coventry from Birmingham International station which is located at the airport.

London Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports are all connected to Coventry by National ExpressLink opens in a new window coach services. Alternatively, you can take the train to Coventry, with a change in central London.
