Welcome Week

The individual elements of your degree are known as modules. Each module has a different focus.

You will have a number of core modules for your Masters course, and in addition you will choose one or more optional modules.

There will be a variety of different assessment methods for each of the modules you will take. The methods may include presentations, tests, written reports and formal exams.

The Library is available 24 hours for all students to use as needed. You can find a huge variety of resources, both online and in-person. All your required course reading will be available from the library.

There will be an introductory session on the Library and resources available during Welcome Week.

Email: both the University and the department will communicate with you on your new Warwick email address (available once you've completed your enrolment). Make sure you check this account regularly!

MyWarwick: you will have your own personalised 'My Warwick' account. This is where you'll be able to access your university emails, timetable, campus information and much more.

Tabula: an online system you will use to see your timetable, information about modules you are registered on and other useful information. Full details and support will be provided once you arrive.

Moodle: an online learning platform where you will find resources relevant to your modules, upload assignments, and find out how well you've done in assignments and exams.

Your course will comprise teaching in weeks 1-10 of term 1 followed by exams; teaching in weeks 1-10 of term 2 followed by exams; then group and individual projects in term 3. The year culminates in presentations by students of their individual research projects, in September 2027.

The PGT Student Handbook is available on Moodle. If you have questions about any aspect of your course, this is a good place to start. If you're still unsure after consulting the handbook, come and see the Admin team in M3.12, or email them at chem-pgt@warwick.ac.uk

Meet the Team

The Warwick Careers team are here to support you throughout your time at university, and after you graduate. They offer in-person and remote services, flexible to your needs and other commitments.

The central Skills team helps ensure all Warwick students are ready for life after graduation - and equipped with the skills they need for a successful future.

They run programmes and interventions that give students opportunities and support for recognising, developing, reflecting on, and articulating their full range of skills.

SSLC stands for Student-Staff Liaison Committee. There is a Chemistry Postgrad SSLC covering both PGT and PGR matters, which feeds into the Students' Union, Chemistry Department and University administration.

The Chemistry PG SSLC is up of elected student representatives, and members of academic and professional service staff. It provides a forum for PG students and staff to discuss ideas and identify potential solutions to problems linked to the PGR and PGT degree programmes.

If you're interested in the work of the Chemistry PG SSLC, or have an issue you would like to be discussed, you should speak with one of your Course Representatives. If you have questions about the running of the SSLC, you should speak with the SSLC Chair.
