Entry conditions

Vietnam has re-opened its border to foreigners and overseas Vietnamese who hold valid permanent residence cards, temporary residence cards, visas, and visa exemption certificates in compliance with the Law on foreigners’ entry into, exit from, transit through, and residence in Vietnam.


Passengers who are eligible for visa exemption may enter Vietnam and stay for up to 45 days from the date of entry, including the date of entry, provided that they meet all entry conditions prescribed by Vietnamese law. Under the current visa exemption policy, this applies to nationals of the following countries:

  • Germany
  • France
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom
  • Russia
  • Japan
  • Republic of Korea
  • Denmark
  • Sweden
  • Norway
  • Finland

The current visa exemption policy is valid from March 15, 2025 to March 14, 2028.

If a participant requires a visa, they must obtain the visa and pay all related fees independently.


Requirements for Tests, Quarantine, and Health Declarations

Passengers entering Vietnam are not required to perform tests, quarantine or health declarations.


e-Visa

Vietnamese visa is a kind of travel document granted by Vietnamese competent authorities, providing permission to travel to and enter Vietnam.

An electronic visa (e-Visa) is one of visa types issued to foreigners by the Vietnamese Immigration Department via an electronic system. Vietnam E-visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days, single or multiple entry.

Outside Vietnam, foreigners who want to enter Vietnam can personally apply for an e-Visa or through the requesting agencies and organizations.

E-visa fee is paid via an electronic payment gateway as prescribed by the Immigration Department. The fee will not be refunded if the application is refused.

Conditions for Being Granted an e-Visa

  • Outside Vietnam foreigners,
  • Holding a valid passport,
  • Not falling into the cases of suspension from entry prescribed in Article 21 of the Law on foreigners' entry into, exit from, transit through, and residence in Vietnam.

Guidelines to Apply for e-Visa

Step 1: Complete the online application form

Applicants must access the Vietnam e-Visa portal and complete all required information accurately: Vietnam e‑Visa Portal

Please prepare the following documents and information before starting:

  • A valid passport (with sufficient validity period),
  • Passport information page (scan/photo),
  • A passport-size photo,
  • Personal information and travel details,
  • Intended entry/exit dates and ports of entry.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all information is entered correctly. Any incorrect or incomplete information may delay processing or lead to visa rejection.

Step 2: Pay the Visa Processing Fee

After completing the application form, applicants must proceed with the payment of the e-Visa processing fee according to the regulations of the Vietnam Immigration Department.

Please note:

  • The visa processing fee is non-refundable once the application has been submitted.
  • Payment can be made online through the system.
Step 3: Receive the e-Visa Online

Once the application has been processed, applicants will receive notification regarding their visa status via the registered email address or can check the result directly through the Vietnam e-Visa portal.

After approval:

  • Download and print the issued e-Visa,
  • Present the e-Visa together with the passport upon arrival in Vietnam.

Please note:

  • Vietnam e-Visas may be issued for single or multiple entries with validity of up to 90 days, subject to applicable regulations.
  • Participants are responsible for obtaining their own visas and covering all related costs.
