• Do not open files emailed to you by strangers or click on links in email messages that seem odd
• Make sure that your computer is running a fully up-to-date virus checker which checks all new files before you open them
• Turn on Windows Automatic Update
• Check manually for updates to programs which you have installed (e.g. Microsoft Office)
• Make sure you have a firewall installed and running
• Make regular back-ups of important documents.
