CSS wins Business Weekly Award 2012
Cambridge CMOS Sensors (CSS) has been named CleanTech Company of the Year at the Business Weekly Award 2012. The presentation dinner, held at the University of Cambridge, was attended by 200 top executives.
CSS, a spin-out from University of Cambridge, exploits innovative patented technology developed in collaboration with the University of Warwick, in the area of CMOS (Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor) micro-systems.
The spin-out is actively involved in leading-edge research and development projects for the next generation of micro and nano sensors. These innovative gas-sensing microsystems have a broad range of applications, including domestic gas detectors, industrial safety, explosive detection, medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring.
The technology allows gas sensors to be produced in higher volume and at lower cost than those available currently. The devices can be heated from room temperature to 700°C in a fraction of a second and have the ultra-low power consumption suitable for battery operated devices.
The award was presented to Professor Julian Gardner by Lord Sainsbury and Dr Anne Dobrée, Head of Seed Funds, Cambridge Enterprise.
