Warwick Spin-out achieves Deloitte Technology Awards

It added to the crop this month (November 2023), with three awards at the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 ceremony, including: Fastest Growing Technology Company in the Midlands; and 5th Fastest CleanTech Business.

The MIRA-based company designs and manufactures revolutionary speaker systems for its high-end headphones and in premium automotive products, and has signed its first production contract with a major automotive manufacturer this year. With seven granted patent families and two further patents pending, the British-designed and manufactured audio technology from Warwick Acoustics has produced the highest-quality headphones available, and brings a revolution to in-car audio. Its electrostatic transducer concept moves away from the traditional (electromagnetic) format of a speaker giving stunning sound performance.

Warwick Acoustics’ ElectroAcoustic Panels are now in the final phases of industrialisation for the first automotive customers of this new proprietary technology which is 90% lighter and uses 90% less energy than traditional automotive speakers. The CleanTech award recognises the sustainability credentials of the technology, which is made using upcycled materials and is 100% by mass recyclable and free from rare-earth elements.

Dr Duncan Billson is the founder and Director of Warwick Acoustics. He is also currently the Leader of the Electrical and Electronics Discipline Stream within the School of Engineering. Speaking of the awards, he said: "We welcome the Deloitte awards as they reflect the rapidly increasing interest in our technology from the automotive industry as it recognises both the environmental advantages and the stunning sound quality of our audio systems".
