New paper from MINRESCUE in Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering

Wonderful news that our paper entitled "On the mineralogical composition and mechanical characteristics of selected European coal mining wastes and their experimental correlation" has been accepted for publication in ASCE's Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering (a globally top journal in the geotechnics field). This work is from Dr Liem Vo (a talented and dedicated postdoctoral Research Associate)'s meticulous work on the MINRESCUE project. The extensive study on seven different coal mining waste samples were conducted in collaboration with Prof. Stephen Hillier from The James Hutton Institute.

New paper in ASCE's Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering

The paper entitled "Influence of uncalcined coal gangue on the microstructure and properties of magnesium ammonium phosphate cement" by Chaofan Wang, Thanh Liem Vo, Mohammad Rezania and Bing Chen, has been accepted for publication in ASCE's Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering. This paper proposes a new method of reusing uncalcined coal gangue as a mineral admixture in the magnesium ammonium phosphate cement (MAPC) blended with fly ash. This was a collaborative work with fellow scientists at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) of China, thanks to a SJTU-Warwick Joint Seed Fund award. The bulk of the experimental study was carried out by Chaofan Wang (a PhD student at SJTU) and complemented by Thanh Vo (a Postdoctoral fellow at Warwick).
