Biography
Dr Rajesh Govindan holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India. His academic journey began with a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rajasthan, India, followed by an M.Tech. in Thermal Engineering from Rajasthan Technical University, India.
With a dynamic career, he has gained extensive experience across diverse sectors. He started as an Assistant Engineer with Simplex Infrastructures Ltd, contributing to the prestigious Jamnagar Export Refinery Project in India. Transitioning into academia, he served at the Government Engineering College Bikaner, India, before pursuing his doctoral studies. After completing his Ph.D., he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Chandigarh University, India, for two years.
In 2024, Rajesh joined the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick, where he currently serves as a Marie Curie Research Fellow in the Human-Structure Dynamics Research Group, led by Prof. Stana Živanović.
Research Interests
Dr Govindan’s scholarly pursuits are driven by a passion for understanding human biodynamic responses to low-frequency vibrations, which are prevalent in diverse dynamic environments such as human spaceflight, passenger trains, vehicles, footbridges, and buildings. His pioneering research focuses on developing advanced musculoskeletal models to analyze the intricate effects of vibration on active human physiology.
His research interests span human vibration, structural dynamics, and biomechanics, underscoring his dedication to exploring the complexities of human interaction with the built environment. Through his work, he aims to enhance safety and comfort in engineered spaces influenced by vibration.
