Detailed experimental studies on bluff body wakes are presented starting from axisymmetric bodies and their low-frequency wake characteristics to bubbles and particles. Response of these wake dynamics on the motion behaviour of bubbles and particles is discussed. In addition, influence of flexible elements as appendices on bodies is discussed with respect to possible means to control the wake.
