Geotechnics and Tunnelling
The Geotechnical Engineering Group at the University of Warwick is at the forefront of research into soil mechanics and underground construction processes.
The main research strands of the groups involve: 1) the modelling of phenomena leading to slope instabilisation, landslides and debris flow; 2) the construction of tunnels and underground excavations; 3) the behaviour of geomaterials under cyclic stresses and at high strains; 4) the development of cracks in soils and rocks; 5) Flow through deformable porous media.
