PhD Title: Machine learning and quantum theory of magnets for energy efficient and renewable energy technologies

PhD Supervisors: Prof. Julie Staunton, Dr Albert Bartok-Partay

Background: Master of Physics (MPhys), University of Warwick (2017-2021)

Project Synopsis

My project aims to use machine learning to improve our ability to study magnetic systems, by performing a machine learned fitting between ab initio relativistic DFT calculations of electron interactions and classical, atomistic spin models. This will enable study of more complex magnetic systems and enable searches for new functional magnets, containing smaller proportions of critical materials.
