Induction Materials

The HetSys CDT recruits students from across the physical sciences: this brings valuable diversity to our cohort but it also means that not all students are at the same level of knowledge in any of the subject we build upon in the taught course. When the year begins, we launch relatively quickly into workshops in multiscale materials modelling, so there is not much time to revise material that we would normally expect the majority of the cohort to have studied previously but which a few have not previously seen.

As a result, we have put together material for self study over the vacation before you begin your course. This focusses on three areas: Mathematics, Quantum Mechanics and Programming in Python.
