Toby Cole

Hello!

I am a second year PhD student at the University of Warwick, particularly interested in viscoplastic fluids and lubrication flows. My supervisors are Thomasina Ball and Tom Montenegro-Johnson.

I previously completed a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, before undergoing an MSc in Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.

If you have any questions for me, please get in touch at Toby.Cole@warwick.ac.uk.

Teaching

I am currently the Teaching Assistant for MA269 Asymptotics and Integral Transforms and MA3D1 Fluid Dynamics. See below for past roles:

Spring '26

  • TA MA269 Asymptotics and Integral Transforms
  • TA MA3D1 Fluid Dynamics
  • Supervisor for two First year Discrete Maths groups (each five students)

Autumn '25

  • TA MA4L0 Advanced Topics in Fluids
  • TA MA4N4 Transport Processes in Mathematical Biology
  • Supervisor for one First year Discrete Maths group (five students)

Summer '25

  • Exam marker for MA3D1 Fluid Dynamics and MA3K1 Mathematics of Machine Learning

News

I am co-organising the eleventh European Postgraduate Fluid Dynamics Conference (EPFDC11). For more information, including a link for registration, please click here - we welcome any postgraduate researchers with a general interest in fluid dynamics!

Interests

Here is an image of me rowing - in general, I enjoy engaging in a variety of sports, but am particularly keen on running, tennis and squash. I am always looking for new people to play with, so let me know if you fancy a game!
