Winter Term

Etienne Le Masson (Cergy-Pontoise and Warwick IAS) will give a mini-course Quantum chaos on large genus hyperbolic surfaces.

Abstract: The goal of this mini-course is to present recent results concerning the behaviour of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on hyperbolic surfaces of large genus. We will introduce the notion of Benjamini-Schramm convergence of sequences of surfaces to the hyperbolic plane and use ergodic theory to prove in particular a result of delocalisation of the $L^2$-mass of eigenfunctions (quantum ergodicity) in this setting.
