TMUA, and STEP
Our Examinations
If you are applying to study any Undergraduate Mathematics course at the University of Warwick you will be required to sit one of the following papers - TMUA or STEP. These tests will help you develop your problem solving skills and deepen your understanding of mathematics.
Please note that MAT will not be part of any offer to students applying for 2025 entry.
Test of Mathematics for University Admissions
(TMUA)
The TMUA is two and a half hours long, and is split into two parts: applications of mathematical knowledge, and mathematical reasoning. For each paper you have 75 minutes to answer 20 multiple choice questions. This exam runs in October and January, and you can choose when you would prefer to sit it.
Sixth Term Examination Paper
(STEP)
Set by Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing, STEP consists of up to two 3-hour paper-based examinations: STEP 2 and STEP 3. Candidates are usually required to sit either one or two of the examinations, and they take place in June.
If STEP is part of the offer you receive from us then we are happy to accept either of these two STEP papers and you may attempt whichever you like.
