Dr Giuseppe Nisticò

Position: Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Supervisor: prof. Valery Nakariakov

Project title: MHD waves and oscillations in the solar corona

Start Date: 1st february, 2012

Education

I graduated in Physics of Plasma and Astrophysics at the University of Calabria (UNICAL) in Italy, under the supervision of prof. Gaetano Zimbardo, and in collaboration with dr. Volker Bothmer from the University of Goettingen, Germany.

I also got my PhD in Physics of Complex Systems at UNICAL in December, 2011.

Research interests

My research focuses on the study of coronal phenomena by mean of analysis of solar EUV image data from STEREO and SDO space missions. In particular, I am going to study MHD wave phenomena in the solar corona, relating them to the coronal heating and the acceleration of the solar wind.
