Study at the iMR Centre for Doctoral Training
The Centre for Doctoral Training offered four year PhDs at the Universities of Warwick, St Andrews/Dundee, Southampton, Nottingham and Aberdeen spanning the fields of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Dynamic Nuclear Polarisation. Our goal is to unlock creativity and stimulate new technological developments in MR furthering the reach and increasing the impact.
The programme was open to graduates who would typically have, or be on course for, a 1st class degree in Physical Sciences. We aimed to attract applicants looking for a challenging, interdisciplinary research training environment and with an active interest in the development of new technologies.
All PhD’s were fully funded including fees and maintenance allowance of £14,000 per annum, as well as an enhanced travel budget. In addition to this there were opportunities for students to travel as part of their studies. Our students have a range of diverse scientific backgrounds. We aim to provide not just a traditional qualification but to equip our students with the cross-disciplinary communication and transferable skills necessary to be successful in the competitive employment market.
A list of example projects (from those offered for September 2013 entry) can be found below.
How to apply
We are not currently accepting new students onto the iMR CDT programme, however some supervisors may have other funding sources available. Please contact one of the Project Supervisors listed if you may be interested in carrying out a PhD under their supervision.
PhD Projects
All projects listed below were available for an October 2013 start. Although we are not currently accepting applications this list is made available as an example of the work being carried out by the iMR CDT partners.
