Rainbow Ideas Cafe and Stonewall Gold Celebration

Export as iCalendar

he Stonewall UK Workplace Equality Index is the definite benchmarking tool for employers to measure their progress on lesbian, gay, bi and trans inclusion in the workplace. As a Stonewall Diversity Champion, the University submits to the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index which provides a framework against which we can audit our policies and practices.

Our last submission was made in September 2021, and as part of the submission all staff were asked to complete a Workplace Survey administered by Stonewall. As a follow on from the survey, and as a result of the anonymised results we received, we want to provide staff with an opportunity to contribute to further discussion and future work. We are therefore inviting staff to attend a Rainbow Ideas Cafe on 28th June (further details below).

In February 2022, it was announced that the University’s work in support of the LGBTQUIA+ community had been recognised, with Warwick being awarded Gold for achieving high standards in specific categories of the Workplace Equality Index, including those related to Trans and Bi inclusion. We are delighted by the news that we achieved Gold, and we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate this achievement as well as identifying ways in which support could be improved for the LGBTQUIA+ community at Warwick, so after the Ideas Cafe, we also invite you to a celebration event.

Inclusion lies at the heart of University strategies, and to have our work formally recognised is absolutely fantastic.

On Tuesday 28th June 2022, we will be holding two events - To register for one or both events – follow this link to complete a short formLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window.:

  • A Rainbow Ideas Café, 1:30 - 3:30pm, Oculus OC1.06 (limited spaces - staff only) - join us to discuss four key themes, and an opportunity to contribute and capture ideas for future work, themes:
    • Allyship - what does it feel like and look like?
    • Invisible Identities.
    • Multiple Identities.
    • Open Table - suggest a theme for discussion on registration.

We welcome staff from LGBTQUIA+ communities and Allies to come together and discuss barriers, challenges and difficulties with LGBTQUIA+ inclusion in their areas of work.

  • A Celebratory Event at Radcliffe House, 4 - 5pm (all welcome) – join us to celebrate the progress made at Warwick, but also to reflect on the work still to be done. We recognise there is still much to be done to improve the student and staff experience on campus and this is an ideal opportunity to build on the recent successes and drive ideas forward.
