Guest Speaker: Dr Rob Lowe presenting a smorgasbord of his own research hosted by Dr Elisabeth Blagrove
Dear All,
A number of colleagues met with our visitor (Dr Imran Khan) from the University of Gothenburg at the start of Term 1. We weren’t able to arrange a talk back in October, but we’re fortunate that Imy has been able to return, this time with his colleague, Dr Rob Lowe. They will be with us on Monday and Tuesday (9th, 10th December), with the aim of exploring potential links between our respective departments/institutions.
Rob & Imy will be joining our Festive Lunch on Monday (Thanks to EUTOPIA funding!)- and will have plenty of opportunity to chat about their research and collaboration opportunities during their visit. Rob will be presenting a smorgasbord of his lab’s work on Tuesday am (abstract below).
Please let me know if you would like to book some time to chat with Rob and Imy, while they’re here.
All Best,
Liz
Abstract:
Robert Lowe is an Associate Professor in Cognitive Science at the University of Gothenburg and Senior Researcher at RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) in the unit of Human-Centered A.I. He will present research carried out over the past few years at his research group ( the D.I.C.E Lab; Digitalization, Interaction, Cognition, Emotion), with focus on Digital Health, Human-Robot Interaction and Cognitive factors in developing partially/fully Autonomous Vehicles. More specifically, his and his team's research has focused on increasing engagement in cognitive interventions and monitoring cognitive impairment in (simulated) driving in safety critical scenarios. He works with companies and academic institutes in Sweden, but also internationally.
Details about Dr Imran Khan:
Dr Imran (Imy) Khan is a EUTOPIA-SIF MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow at the DICE (Digitalization, Interaction, Cognition, and Emotion) LabLink opens in a new window. His research involves bio-inspired intelligence, social cognition, artificial life, (social) affective computing and adaptive systems/cybernetics. He is also involved in outreach, and in diversity, equity and inclusion work- which has led to his involvement in our co-curricular EUTOPIA learning project (reported at the last Teaching Away Day).
