Readability in a range of languages
With the help of funding from the British Academy and from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in Malaysia, we have just begun a project to explore the concept of readability in other languages and scripts. The first part of this project has been to look at the case of Malaysia, but we intend also to explore the case of Chinese and other languages in time.
An initial networking seminar was held at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris on April 4th, 2013. At this seminar, David Wray and Dahlia Janan outlined the current state of research into readability and text complexity. Dahlia Janan also gave a preliminary account of research into readability in Malay.
