Research into readability in Malay

Dahlia Janan has been researching the concept and practice of readability in Malay language.

Grant details: "Matching text to reader: exploring a new model of readability for Malay language texts". Collaborative project Dr Dahlia Janan, Sultan Idris Education University, Malaysia and Professor David Wray, University of Warwick, UK. MYR 50,000 (£10,000) from Research Acculturation Grant System, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.

This project involves 30 primary school children, both boys and girls, from urban and rural schools, and is studying the texts that these children choose for themselves to read, and the texts that their teaches choose for them.
