Welcome to all International Mentors

Your role as a mentor is very important to the development of our trainee teachers, and one we value highly at CTE. In order that we continue to develop and support our network of effective mentors, we ask that you complete the following:
1) Watch the welcome briefing for International Mentors (12 minutes) HERE
2) Register for the Mentor Development Programme (MDP), please click HERELink opens in a new window. If you have already completed this process and have enrolled onto the MDP, you can access the programme by using the link in green below.
3) Complete the mentoring skills self-evaluation HERE - this will enable you to capture your own professional skills and development as a mentor.
4) Once you have enrolled onto the MDP, please sign up to the 'International Mentor ' forum to enable you to receive regular communication from the university.
As a new mentor, we ask that you complete the following units:
Unit 1 - What is Mentoring?
Examine the differences between coaching and mentoring.
Explore the value and impact of mentoring for trainee teachers
Unit 2 - Effective Mentoring Relationships
Explain the skills and attributes of an effective mentor.
Understand how to build effective mentoring relationships to support trainee-teacher progress and wellbeing.
Explore how unconscious bias can impact mentoring practice.
Unit 4 - Exploring the Instructional Coaching model
Identify 3 powerful mentoring strategies for deliberate practice.
Understand the impact of 'judgement' feedback.
Understand the role of gathering data as a key process within Instructional Coaching
Unit 5 - Introduction to the ITTECF
Explore the Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework.
Consider the links between the ITTECF and Warwick curriculum.
Unit 15 - Mentoring in an International Context
You should then choose which further units to undertake depending on the context of your mentoring and your trainee's specific needs and interests.
5) Your trainee will link you to their Axia portfolio dashboard through an email invite. This is where all trainee activity is documented, weekly meetings, Professional Practice Units activity and the Collaborative Assessment Points (CAPs), and where all mentoring documentation can be found.
