Charlie Atkins (University of Warwick) - The Factors Affecting Social Capital Among Students

Through the Undergraduate Research Support Scheme, Warwick has granted me funding to complete research focusing on Years 10 to 13 (KS4/5). I hope that the study will identify ways we can support students' access to social capital and meaningful networks. The study involves a 10-minute online student questionnaire and small focus groups (non-essential). I am keen to collaborate with the schools to share findings and recommendations on completing the study. This study has received ethical approval from the Department of Education Studies at the University of Warwick, and the data collected is anonymous.

Georgios Pazaitis (University of Warwick) - 'When in the blaze, build windmills' - Headteacher Practice, the Role of Pragmatism, and the Issue of System Change in UK Education

I am a student on Warwick's Education Studies and Global Sustainable Development course. With the support of Warwick's Undergraduate Research Support Scheme, I am conducting research into the praxis of headteachers in the UK. Working closely with practitioners, I aim to understand the discourses and practices successful headteachers draw upon to run excellent schools, while at the same time interrogating the potential of the headteacher role in effecting change beyond the school level, with a specific focus on marketisation and academisation. For this project, I am hoping to shadow the work of a headteacher for a certain time period to gain insights into their tasks and the issues they face. The exact timeframe and scope of the project would be collaboratively developed with the school. For inquiries, please contact me at Georgios.Pazaitis@warwick.ac.uk
