PGCE Confirmation of Understanding

We appreciate that you will given a lot of information to digest on the day of interview and we have highlighted some of the key points below. Please read them carefully and complete the form with the details requested prior to the day of your interview, or soon after. Any offer recommendation that is made, may be delayed if we haven't received a completed form from yourselves.Please note that we use your Warwick ID number to monitor completion of this form, therefore please ensure you enter your 7 digit number correctly.

Conditions

You understand that all conditions must be met prior to the course start date. You will be unable to enrol onto the course, unless you have fulfilled all the conditions. We do not permit late starters. You understand that any outstanding documentation (ID for Right to Study, Certificates etc.) must be seen in person. Therefore if your interview was online, you will need to either bring this into your placement School for verification, or bring to University on one of our allocated Document Check days, if not shown and verified at your in person interview. Please do not post any original documents. You understand that it is your responsibility to obtain copies of original documents required. For example, if you have lost GCSE Certificates you must order replacements as soon as possible in order to meet these conditions and prior to the start date. You understand that we will accept original certificates for your qualifications but if this is not possible, you will contact us to advise what proof you have available. You understand that you must have been awarded your degree by the course start date (if your graduation ceremony is later than this, we require a letter from your university confirming the award of degree)

 
Decision Following Interview

We do our best to inform you of our decision following interview as soon as possible. However, please bear in mind that there can occasionally be unforeseen delays. We advise that a decision should be made via DfE Apply within 5-10 working days.

 
Information on Placements
You understand that travelling time to and from a placement could be over an hour each way, or significantly longer by public transport You understand that there may be extra travelling time to and from your complementary placements (School Direct Trainees) You understand that usual school hours are from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm at least, but may vary depending on your school. You should also be prepared for occasions when you may have to be available before and after school e.g. staff meetings, staff training or after school activities. Any child care or other commitments that you have will need to fit around this requirement.
 
Accommodation
The University of Warwick makes no on-campus accommodation provision for any trainees on its PGCE courses. However, you can contact the University Accommodation Office for details of their off-campus properties.
 
Structure of the Course
You understand that the start date of the courses as published on the Centre for Teacher Education webpages. You understand that the University Induction period is compulsory. You understand that attendance at all University teaching sessions is compulsory; this is closely monitored. All absences should be formally reported in line with the absence reporting procedure. You understand that when you are being taught in University, teaching can occasionally go on until 6pm.
 
Course Fees

Should you be made an offer, you understand that it is your responsibility to ensure the correct fees are showing on your offer letter. If they are incorrect you understand that is your responsibility to query this as soon as possible. You understand that if you are School Direct Salaried and your school will be paying the £2100 fee, it is your responsibility to complete the sponsorship form so that they can be invoiced accordingly


 

Professional Behaviour

You understand that as ​an applicant or offer holder and whilst registered as a PGCE trainee you will be expected to uphold excellent standards of personal, professional and academic behaviour in line with the expectations of the University of Warwick, Centre for Teacher Education and the Teachers' Standards.  You understand that you are required to interact with all staff of the University and school settings in a respectful manner, both verbally and in written or electronic communications.

Inappropriate behaviour could lead to the withdrawal of a potential offer for the PGCE course and/or a referral to the Suitability Panel who consider applicant and trainee suitability relative to the professional standards and expectations of Teachers.
