Popplet
Popplet is a really simple mind mapping tool that is designed for use on iPads and web browsers. It can be used for group work or individual brainstorming sessions and for everything from writing stories to planning events.
It doesn't automatically produce hierarchical maps (as most mind mapping tools do) - you choose what you want to link to and how you want to link to it. Personally I think this is more useful than the more sophisticated mind mapping tools as it doesn't restrict you to specific layers; you can produce a huge mind map all on the same layer if you want to, or several smaller linked maps that focus on specific topics. You can also add images from Vimeo, YouTube and your own PC to the popple (the individual content box that makes up the bigger popplet) that you create.
You can sign up for free at: http://popplet.com
You can create a limited number of popplets with the free account or there are other unlimited paid for options.
The popplets can be made public or shared with specific individuals via Facebook, Twitter, emails or embedded on a webpage.
There is also a blog that gives really good examples of how other people are using popplet:
Here is an example of a really simple popplet that I created in just a few minutes:
