ALT West Midlands event
Wednesday 21st June 2017
The theme for this event was using digital tools and technologies for assessment:
'Using TEL in the assessment process can give us an enhanced ability to provide differentiated tasks, grade them and provide personalised feedback in a timely way. E-assessment can also allow us to explore collaborative group and peer assessment possibilities in creative ways. During and after the assessment itself, technology can help us to analyse results and get a clear understanding of learner progress and where support and challenge is needed.
The Summer meeting will explore some of the wide array of technological and pedagogical options open to teachers as they perform and evaluate assessment of and for learning.'
Presentations were from:
- Derby University looking at how they assessed with videos.
- Heart of Worcestershire College presented twice; once about mandatory online learning via their Scheduled Online Learning and Assessment (SOLA) project and again about how they use free software to generate online content; they also touched upon the Blended Learning Consortium for FE institutions.
- Worcester University using Mahara portfolios for assessment
- The Hive, Worcerster University
