Twitter is a microblogging and social networking tool that can be used to post short messages or tweets. Tweets are limited to 280 characters for all languages except for Chinese, Japanese and Korean which are limited to 140 characters. The idea behind using Twitter for teaching, is to extend the learning opportunities available to students and to promote opportunities to connect with people outside of the classroom. These can be other students or 'experts' in particular fields.
