EC9B4-60 MRes Dissertation

Principal Aims

To provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to autonomously investigate and carry out novel research in their chosen area of economics, at PhD level.

Principal Learning Outcomes

The demonstration of advanced competence in: formulating a valid research question; conducting an empirical investigation; analysing and interpreting results; writing up findings to a standard suitable for publication; and presentation of these findings to an academic committee.

Syllabus

The topic of the dissertation will be agreed in conjunction with the Director of Postgraduate Research Programmes in Economics plus the allocated dissertation supervisor.

Pre or Co-requisites
MRes year one and two field option modules in MRes year two. Students must pass the chosen field option modules before dissertation submission.
