Warwick Economics student wins 'Best Undergraduate Paper Award'

A Warwick Economics student was recently declared winner of the International Atlantic Economics Society Best Undergraduate Paper Award.

Hameem Raees Chowdhury, who graduated with a first-class degree in BSc Economics this year, presented his paper at the 80th International Atlantic Economic Conference in Boston, Massachusetts.

Hameem took first prize for his paper entitled “Joint-Liability in Microcredit: Evidence from Bangladesh”, which will be included in an upcoming issue of the Atlantic Economic Journal.

Among the other 3 finalists was another Warwick Economics student, Virginia Minni, who presented her paper “Can Greater Bank Capital Lead to Less Bank Lending? An Analysis of the Bank-Level Evidence from Europe”.

Congratulations to Hameem on his fantastic achievement and to Virginia for reaching the final stages.
