Warwick economist joins Treasury expert council

Dr Dennis Novy, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Warwick, has accepted a place on the government’s Council of Economic Advisers (CEA).

The CEA is a small advisory panel of academic and private-sector economists set up to advise the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Prime Minister, with the goal of bringing expert scrutiny to bear on UK economic policy.

Dr Novy is a specialist on international trade, macroeconomics and economic history, and has previously served as a Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Novy said: "I am delighted to have been invited to the Council of Economic Advisers. In times of major changes to the UK economy and its relations with other countries, it is important to look at solid evidence as a guide for policy-making. I am pleased to be able to assist the government in that endeavour."
