New Director for the Centre of Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy (CAGE)

The Centre of Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy (CAGE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Mirko Draca as our new Director from the 1st September 2019, upon the retirement of Professor Nick Crafts.

Commenting on his appointment, Mirko said:

"I'm honoured and excited to be taking over from Nick Crafts as CAGE Director. Over the last 10 years CAGE has contributed an important mix of research covering economic history, political economy, development and behavioural economics into UK social science."

"In a period when the value of evidence and expertise is being strongly challenged it's important to continue and expand this work. As an institution, Warwick has a record of giving new talent and ideas a shot - we'll stick to this approach. I look forward to working with both my Warwick colleagues and the ESRC as part of CAGE's future."

Jeremy Smith, the Head of the Department of Economics said:

"Nick Crafts is stepping down from being Director of CAGE after 10 very successful years in this role. Over his time as Director Nick has ensured that CAGE has made a significant contribution to economic debate both nationally and internationally. Mirko Draca will be replacing Nick as Director of CAGE and he will be working hard to ensure that CAGE remains at the forefront of the economic debate. This is very exciting time for economics and CAGE is very fortunate to have one of the leading economists of his generation as its’ Director."
