Why did you choose Warwick?
During my undergraduate studies in Financial Economics at the University of Essex, I discovered a strong passion for economics, which inspired me to explore the subject further. Warwick is renowned for its excellence in economics and teaching quality, making it the ideal place to deepen my knowledge. Pursuing the MSc Economics at Warwick provided me with the opportunity for systematic learning and skill development in a field I’m deeply passionate about.
What appealed to you about the MSc programme and what skills have you developed?
To me, economics is not just an academic discipline—it’s a lens through which I understand and interpret the world. My studies have sharpened my critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which I apply both academically and in daily life. They have also enhanced my decision-making abilities, enabling me to maximize utility in real-life scenarios with the resources available.
Modules like Development Economics have taught me how to design and execute impactful projects, while courses such as Macroeconomics B and Applications of Data Science have provided hands-on experience in coding and data analysis. Through these courses, I have developed proficiency in essential tools like MATLAB, R Studio, and Stata, which are indispensable for modern economic research and practice.
What has been the highlight so far?
Every day at Warwick feels like a highlight for me. From attending engaging lectures to making friends on campus, joining sports clubs, and taking peaceful walks around the beautiful campus, each moment has contributed to an enriching and fulfilling experience.
One particularly rewarding experience has been my involvement in the Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) in the department. This role allowed me to bridge communication between the teaching team and students, fostering a collaborative learning environment. At the same time, it provided me with the opportunity to connect with highly motivated peers, further enhancing my personal and academic growth.
What are your career aspirations?
After completing the MSc Economics at Warwick, I aspire to become an economic consultant. I am passionate about applying my economics knowledge to real-world problems and helping others find practical solutions. The program has provided me with both theoretical insights and technical skills, which I believe will be invaluable in my future career.
In addition to the excellent support from our department, Warwick offers a wealth of career resources that have been instrumental in my professional development. Booking one-on-one career guidance sessions and participating in interview preparation workshops have significantly enhanced my confidence and skills, preparing me to navigate the job market effectively.
