Why did you choose to study an MSc at Warwick

I decided to pursue an MSc at Warwick because it seemed like the ideal fit for my interests in finance and behavioural economics. I liked that the course is highly applied rather than just theoretical, and Warwick has a great reputation in economics. The course connects economic theory to practical decision making and the combination of modules like behavioural finance, nudging, and neuroeconomics truly caught my attention.

What appealed most about Warwick's MSc courses?

The MSc program's interdisciplinary nature is what truly drew me in. The fact that it integrates psychology, finance, and economics rather than concentrating on a single field appealed to me. Additionally, I felt that the program was more engaging and helpful for my future career than just theoretical because it was very practical and research led.

What skills are you developing that will prepare you for life after graduation?

I'm gaining a variety of transferable and technical skills through the MSc that I know will be very useful once I graduate. On the technical side, I'm honing my research and data analysis abilities, learning how to assess evidence, analyse behavioural data, and apply economic theory to practical issues.

In addition, the course is assisting me in developing strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities, particularly through case studies, discussions, and assignments. By clearly presenting ideas in written assignments and group projects and learning how to explain difficult concepts in a straightforward, useful manner, I'm also honing my communication skills. All things considered, it's preparing me to think critically, collaborate effectively, and make wise choices in a work environment.

What has been the highlight of Warwick so far?

The academic environment has been one of Warwick's highlights thus far. Particularly in seminars where you're encouraged to think critically rather than just learn material, I've truly enjoyed being in an environment where discussions are interactive and ideas are continuously challenged. Additionally, I've found the diversity of students to be really rewarding, collaborating with individuals from various backgrounds and viewpoints has greatly enhanced group projects and conversations. All in all, it's been a fantastic combination of excellent academics and a supportive, vibrant campus experience.

What are your career aspirations?

I want to work in a position where I can use finance and behavioural economics to make decisions in the real world. I'm eager to obtain experience in fields like consulting, financial services, or policy-focused positions in the near future so that I can analyse data, comprehend investor or consumer behaviour, and contribute to the development of more effective strategies or interventions. In the long run, I'd like to work in a position where I can use behavioural insights to make a significant impact on decisions at a higher level, whether that's influencing business strategy or supporting evidence based policy.
