Senior Tutor, Department of Economics, 2007-8

If you would like to make an appointment to see me outside of my standard office hours, please see Ann Simper or Jackie Pinks in the UG Office in Economics or email me at robin.naylor@warwick.ac.uk

As Senior Tutor in the Department of Economics, I co-ordinate and support the Personal Tutor system in the Department. Personal Tutors are expected to provide such individual support, advice and guidance to students as may be necessary or appropriate to enable them to gain the most from their studies at the University. Personal Tutors and Tutees should meet at frequent intervals - at least during the designated Personal Tutor weeks each term - and record summaries of their discussions and communication via MyEconomics, where logs of meetings can be entered and maintained. Any mitigating circumstances affecting student performance should be communicated to me, in my role as Senior Tutor.

The University Counselling Service offers many facilities and services to students, including workshops on matters such as: time management; essay writing; stress management; exam anxiety and examination and revision skills. There is also important disability information. The Students Union provide important Advice and Welfare Services.

The Department of Economics has a SSLC (Economics) web-page where you can find links to: (i) SSLC student Reps by Degree Course, (ii) previous SSLC Minutes and Agenda (including the annual SSLC report), and (c) an SSLC Forum (for SSLC reps). The Students' Union hosts an SSLC portal with many useful links, including: Training Information for SSLC reps; and guidance on referencing and avoiding plagiarism. SSLC reps should find the SSLC Handbook 2007-8 particularly useful.
