Writing Wrongs is an outreach project for sixth formers (from widening participation backgrounds) to write about social justice issues.
The programme includes two/three on campus workshops and a Celebration event.
Ambassadors will need to encourage the students to engage in the activities, speak to them about student life, help out in sessions and facilitate the smooth running of the workshops.
We are expecting about 30 sixth form students from a range of schools across the Midlands, most of the students are from disadvantaged/Widening Participation backgrounds. During the workshops students will be rotating around writing workshops, 1:1 feedback sessions, and student life activities (such as a campus tour and conversations with ambassadors about their courses, studying/living at Warwick and student finance). Ambassadors will need to help with:
Assisting with setting the sessions up and packing down at the end of the day
Registration
Encouraging engagement during sessions
Answering questions on their course
Assisting moving the group around.
Lunch will be provided.
Confident to talk to sixth form students (aged 16-18) about writing skills and social justice, as well as answer questions about student life
Experience of running activities with 16-18 year olds is desirable.
Professional demeanour and approachable
Ability to inspire young people to think about their future and potentially studying at university
