Title: (Work-In-Progress) 'Death and All Its Friends'

Abstract: Imagine that, last night, you were incinerated. The ‘you’ that woke up this morning is in fact an exact replica, including all of your memories, beliefs, desires, and so on. According to a popular view in the philosophy of identity, we ought not to care that much about our incineration, for most of what matters in survival is preserved by our replica; according to the law, however, you have been murdered. Now imagine instead that you are given an injecEon that causes permanent and complete retrograde amnesia, as well as radical personality change. According to the same popular view in the philosophy of identity, prett much everything that matters in survival has been lost; according to the law, however, you have not been murdered. My paper explores which, if either, view best captures what mamers in survival.
