LLB student publishes article during CMS internship
LLB student Jure Tuš, who is currently in his fourth year of his Law with French Law degree here at Warwick, took part in a summer internship with the international law firm CMS and had a news article published on their news site CMS Law-Now whilst there. We caught up with Jure to find out more.
Hi Jure, can you tell us about your internship?
This summer I was lucky enough to be offered a two-month internship in the Slovenian office of CMS, a global commercial law firm. I was a part of the Corporate / Mergers & Acquisitions Team, but the lawyers at the firm also got me involved in the other areas of commercial law, including Intellectual Property, Employment and Construction.
How did the article come about?
The idea to write an article commenting on the Renckhoff case came about when I was talking to my colleagues about recent developments in Intellectual Property law. The case had just been decided and the attorneys at CMS felt it would be an interesting thing to write about for the CMS Law-Now website, which the firm uses to inform the clients of changes in the law that might affect their businesses. My colleagues also appreciated this would be a great reference for my future career prospects and I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity.
How was your experience at CMS?
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at CMS. One thing I liked the most about working there is that they always took the time to explain the basic concepts of a certain area of law as well as the context of the project I was asked to help with. The hands-on experience I got during my time in the office reaffirmed my wish to pursue a career in commercial law. On top of that, the culture at CMS is very supportive, collegiate and intellectually stimulating.
And finally, what are you looking forward to in your last year at Warwick?
As I am on a Law with French Law degree, this was the first time I was able to pick my modules. I am therefore looking forward to learning about Intellectual Property and Competition Law as well as Marketing. After a year abroad in Bordeaux, coming back to Warwick feels like coming back home and I am ready to make the most out of my last year here.
Congratulations Jure and good luck in your last year!
