WLS Alumnus appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Malawi

Sunduzwayo Madise, who studied on our PhD programme from 2013 to 2017, has been appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Malawi.

Sundu’s thesis at Warwick looked at ‘The case of regulation of mobile money in Malawi: law and practice’ and was supervised by Professor Dalvinder Singh.

As Deputy Vice Chancellor, apart from deputising the Vice Chancellor, his role will be to oversee the day-to-day running of the University and chair most of the University’s statutory committees. Sundu says he pays tribute to the WLS and the University for moulding him into the academic, and leader he is today.

During his studies, Sundu also obtained a Post Graduate Award in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. He was also a Tutor for the Law of Torts and served as Residential Tutor of Gosford residence.

The University of Malawi have said “Dr Madise will play a vital role in supporting the Vice-Chancellor in the implementation of our next Strategic Plan, covering the period from 2022-2027. A highly respected senior academic, Dr Madise will begin his role with immediate effect. The University and Management would like to sincerely congratulate and welcome Dr Sunduzwayo Madise to the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor."

Congratulations Sundu from everyone here at Warwick and best of luck in the new role.
