Naveera Abhayawickrama wins Warwickshire Law Student of the Year Award
We are delighted to announce that finalist LLB student Naveera Abhayawickrama has won the Warwickshire Law Society Law Student of the Year award (sponsored by Essential Mediation Solutions) for 2025. This is a fantastic achievement and recognition of excellence in legal practice, innovation, leadership, and service.
On winning the award Naveera told us:
"It was such a lovely surprise, and I am truly honoured to receive this award! A big thank you to everyone who nominated me. I am immensely grateful for this lovely opportunity!"
The award was announced at the Warwickshire Law Society Annual Awards dinner held on Friday 7 November in Coventry.
Fellow law student Henry Whitehurst was also shortlisted for the award and a deserving runner up who received High Commendation at the awards ceremony. Henry told us:
"I am proud to have been Highly Commended in the Warwickshire Law Society Annual Awards. Thank you to Essential Mediation Solutions for sponsoring the Law Student of the Year category, and also to Professor Jane Bryan for supporting Naveera and I to attend the awards dinner. Congratulations to Naveera for winning!"
Head of Warwick Law School, Professor Andrew Williams commented:
"This is a fantastic achievement for Naveera and Henry and thoroughly well-deserved. It is also a testament to the quality of the students we have studying here at Warwick Law School."
