Congratulations to Warwick Law School alumnus Siddharth Raja on his appointment as Executive Dean at Vinayaka Mission’s Law School (VMLS) in India.

Before joining VMLS, Siddharth was a Senior Partner at Vertices Partners. With nearly three decades of legal practice in India and overseas, he set up and built four law firm practices. He has expertise in advising leading companies, navigating complex legal issues and contributing to India’s evolving corporate legal landscape.

When asked about the appointment, Siddharth told us:

“I’m absolutely thrilled about this new chapter in my life and career – adding another truly meaningful dimension to my legal career and practice. I feel energised and ready to embrace this inflection point – taking ‘the road less travelled by’.”

Discussing the new role, Siddharth - who studied on our LLM in International Economic Law in 1997/98 - shared:

“I’m deeply energised by this opportunity to contribute to legal education in a meaningful way. Moving from corporate legal practice into academia is not a departure but a two-way corridor of learning. I look forward to helping build a law school where scholarship, practical insight, and professional purpose reinforce one another.”

He explained:

“What began as an academic association turned into a deeper alignment – a shared belief in what legal education must now stand for.

We are at a critical moment. Governance is shifting. Technology is reshaping practice. The boundaries between teaching, regulation, and ethics are becoming fluid. And India still cries out for reform across its districts and towns!

A law school must respond with rigour but also with imagination. At VMLS, I see that possibility. To build a space that is intellectually demanding, future-facing, and grounded in values that outlast trends.

That work now becomes my responsibility. And I look forward to walking that path with the VMLS community.”
