Preparing law students for the Hidden Challenges of Conveyancing
Back in June, Warwick Law School’s Professor Jane Bryan was involved in offering an externally accredited skills session to prepare students for summer placements and graduate opportunities in conveyancing teams.
The skills session, titled, 'Post-completion Conveyancing online course', was a collaboration with Priscilla Sinder, Founder of PCC, and included legal professionals and also students from the University of Birmingham.
In many firms, students and newly qualified graduates are entrusted with post-completion work, particularly the registration of title at HM Land Registry. Yet this is an area that receives little attention in many undergraduate law degrees. In response, Warwick Law School collaborated with Property Conveyancing Consultancy to design and deliver an innovative six-hour online course that bridges the gap between academic study and professional practice. The course equips students with the knowledge, confidence and practical understanding needed to become informed, work-ready members of post-completion teams from the beginning of their legal careers.
The course was piloted in June 2026 with students from the University of Warwick and the University of Birmingham, alongside practising conveyancing professionals. Combining interactive teaching, practical case studies and guest contributions from experienced practitioners, the programme generated exceptionally positive feedback and enthusiastic engagement throughout. Beyond developing technical knowledge, the pilot prompted valuable discussion about the transition from university to legal practice and highlighted the benefits of exposing students to the realities and responsibilities of post-completion work before they enter the profession.
The course carried 3 Warwick Award points.

Student Feedback
“Having studied property law, I wanted to put my academic knowledge into practical use. The PCC course bridged this gap by showing how legal concepts apply to real conveyancing transactions. I particularly enjoyed discovering that post-completion is a risk-sensitive process, rather than a simple administrative task. Learning core skills like structured due diligence has prepared me to submit accurate AP1 applications and verify essential documents like transfer deeds. As this course was offered by the university for the first time, it was very well-organised with detailed materials, and I would definitely recommend it.” – Jonathan Ha
“I was attracted to the course because it provided an opportunity to learn about a niche area of property law that I had not yet encountered as a first-year law student. It was a chance to explore a specialist topic while also gaining practical insight into an area of legal practice. One aspect I particularly enjoyed was how well-structured and accessible the course was. The materials were organised clearly, and the lessons followed them closely, making it easy to keep up with the content. The pace was excellent, allowing enough time to understand each concept without feeling overwhelming.
Although the subject matter is quite specialised, the due diligence skills developed throughout the course are fundamental to many areas of legal practice. I hope to build on these skills as I continue my legal studies and through future work experience, as they will be valuable regardless of the area of law I ultimately pursue. I would certainly recommend this course to other law students, particularly those with some extra time who are looking to strengthen their practical legal skills while broadening their knowledge beyond the core curriculum. It is an engaging and well-designed course that provides both specialist knowledge and transferable skills. Thank you for providing such a valuable learning opportunity!” - Eduarda Nora
“I was keen to undertake the PCC Post Completion Conveyancing Course because I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the practical side of law and explore an area that I had not studied in detail during my degree. I wanted to develop practical legal skills and gain insight into how legal principles are applied in real-world situations. I particularly enjoyed the interactive nature of the course and the opportunity to work through practical examples, which helped me build my confidence and understanding of the conveyancing process. I am delighted with my grades and incredibly grateful for the support and guidance throughout the journey. I would highly recommend this course to other students as it is an excellent opportunity to develop valuable skills alongside academic studies and gain a broader perspective of legal practice.” – Suhani Reddy
