Title: 'Public International Law: From Lecture Room to Theatre'

Elizabeth will discuss her personal experience in delivering rule of law and peacekeeping in the field. She will reflect on what she wishes she had known and what the current global policy agenda and national realities have to offer to rule of law in practical terms; sharing lessons from the trenches. The discussion will focus on the law in the public and international sphere.

Elizabeth is an Advocate/Attorney at Law with 20 years’ experience in legal, legislative and policy analysis work. Elizabeth has served as Vice President of the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel; Legal Officer in the United Nations’ Department of Peacekeeping Operations; Principal Legislative Counsel at the Parliament of Uganda; and Lecturer at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. Elizabeth is a member of the Institute of International Humanitarian Law and has initiated and participated in capacity building programmes worldwide as trainer, presenter, rapporteur and resource person.
