Scholarship

My primarily research focus is socio-legal. I partly work on public law in the United Kingdom, but more intensively on social movements and constitutionally related land rights in Brazil. My interest also extends to critical approaches to the study of corruption and anti-corruption movements with reference to Brazil, China, the UK and Russia as well as the political economy of growth and corruption and legal responses.

Teaching Research Supervision

I welcome enquiries from prospective PhD supervisees. However, please ensure that you have a research proposal which corresponds with the University of Warwick School of Law requirements.

Whilst I am particularly interested in supervising PhDs related to land issues in Latin America, especially that of social movements and legal change, proposals need not be confined to this region alone. I have supervised PhDs on land related issues and social movements in Africa and Mongolia. Additionally, I welcome any proposal that takes a more analytical/critical view of anti-corruption movements and strategies and their relationship to constitutional and the political processes.
